Hair can differ from day to day and sometimes it does what it wants. This can be the result of many things, but many times it is the way the person is taking care of their hair. When tending to your hair, you need find what works best for your hair type. Sometimes all you need to do is change the way you are handling your follicles. Be nice to your hair As you detangle- Use caution when detangling the hair. Section hair and use your fingers first to separate the hair before using a comb. (Fingers preserve more coils than combs do) Always work from the ends of the hair strand, going upward toward your scalp. If hair is extra dry you can use a spritz of water and oil. If hair is tangled make sure to use a heavy conditioning crème, rinse or moisturizing conditioner to help with breakage. Combing- After you’ve detangled, part your hair into three or four sections, and use plastic clips to secure each section. Grab a handful of hair from one section, and use your wide-toothed to gently but firmly comb through the handful of hair. If you reach a snag, stop and use your fingers; don’t try to pull the comb through until hair is tangle free. Brushing- The point of brushing hair is to distribute scalp oils, brush away loose scales, or untangle or smooth rough hair. Over-brushing can stimulate some oil production, but can cause problems to some depending on the hair type and condition of the scalp. If your hair is tightly coiled, you can’t pull the brush through to the ends of the hair without tearing some of it out. Make sure to take the proper steps of finger detangling and combing before brushing. Prepping- Before going to bed make sure to prep your hair. You should follow the rules for nightly preparation depending on the type of hair you have. For instance, if your hair is prone to dryness, make sure to moisturize every night to avoid dryness in the morning. Use a scarf, or bonnet to cover hair for overnight protection. If you’re prepping your hair the night before a plaiting session, comb each section, and twist, braid or pin it in a manner that will be easy to remove. Wrap your hair in a satin scarf before you go to sleep. You will make the job a little easier. Youngtouch Haircare
